According to history were discovered by accident in 1535. The Bishop of Panama, Tomas de Berlanga, was the first known person to steep foot on the Galapagos Islands, when he was blow off while sailing to Peru. Firstly, they were called “Enchanted Islands” and later on they were named “Galapagos” in honor of the legendary giant tortoise of the archipelago.
In 1835 they became well known, when the English naturalist and scientific, Charles Darwin came to the Islands and fell in love with them. In 1978, UNESCO declared them Natural Heritage of Humanity.

At any time! No matter where you go, wild life is always there. The animals have no natural fear of human presence. You can easily see a sea lion relaxing and laying on the pier, a marine iguana o giant tortoise walking right next to you, or a shark and penguin swimming with you at the ocean.
Clothes of hot weather, light t-shirts, shorts, hats, sandals. Sometimes there is also rain, so we recommend you to bring with you a waterproof windbreaker. Don’t forget sunglasses and sunscreen!
